Sherfield Mill - Ongoing Project

The Mill is an architect-led new build project. We removed an existing barn to make way for a new structure, incorporating living accommodation at one end. The building will house two cars, with additional storage above. To the rear of the barn, the design includes a kitchen, bathroom, and open oak glazing to the gable end, creating a light-filled living space. It is set to become a truly remarkable place. 

Design Intent 

The design for The Mill was driven by a desire to create a contemporary barn that sits comfortably within its rural setting. Traditional barn proportions and materials were carefully balanced with modern detailing to maximise light, views, and functionality. The layout was thoughtfully arranged to separate practical garage and storage spaces from the living accommodation, while the open oak glazing creates a strong connection between the interior and its surroundings. The result is a building that feels purposeful, calm, and well-considered, both in form and function.
